These Portraits Were Made by AI: None of These People Exist

Check out these rather ordinary looking portraits. They’re all fake. Not in the sense that they were Photoshopped, but rather they were completely made by AI (Artificial Intelligence).

This is a very interesting blog that talks about how far artificial intelligence has gone and what it’s implications are in the real world.

Think about this-  Social Media photographs can be faked, a person’s identity can be faked and the list goes on and on. There is more implications about this as the article portrays.  Real Estate interior photos can be faked as well as others.  What was shocking is that 75% of the photos generated on IKEA’s website are not real photos, but are photos generated by artificial intelligence as the article points out.  What immediately came to mind was dating sites that people use.  Of course there is a lot of faked profiles on dating sites but these sites are using real pictures from photos on the web.  There is liability with doing so but just think if the computer generated a fake image?

The world is changing fast with computers.  What you see isn’t what you get!   I could see this technology defrauding lots of people as time goes on.   Imagine buying a product from Amazon’s website and you base the purchasing decision off of what you see and then the package shows up and it isn’t what you thought.   Even though Amazon has lots of checks and balances that does not mean that you couldn’t be a target of fraud.

Lots to think about.
