Biden’s Mandate: More Than Half of New Vehicles Must be Electric by 2030.

Electric Cars
EV Mandate

Once again, Biden and liberal policymakers are pushing an agenda that will have significant repercussions for Americans and the economy. Their latest mandate stipulates that more than half of all new cars sold in 2030 and beyond must be electric.

Lack of Infrastructure

Environmentalists champion EVs without considering their practicality for the average consumer. These vehicles come with hefty price tags, often exceeding $50,000. Additionally, their batteries have limited lifespans, are filled with toxic chemicals, and pose safety risks in the event of a fire. Moreover, studies indicate that the pollution generated from tire wear outweighs tailpipe emissions.

While this directive may seem well-intentioned, its practical implications reveal a glaring oversight, particularly for rural communities. The lack of infrastructure for electric vehicles (EVs) poses a major challenge, not just in rural areas but also in urban markets. Picture this: apartment complexes with hundreds of units and no charging stations in sight. Where will residents charge their vehicles? The absence of mass charging stations exacerbates the problem.

Electric Grid Challenges

In California, where green energy initiatives are prevalent, the electrical grid faces challenges. The closure of coal, nuclear, and propane generation plants has strained the grid’s capacity, leading to days when consumers are urged to limit electricity usage. The exorbitant rates charged by utility companies, such as PG&E, further compound the issue, with solar energy investments yielding unfavorable returns due to rate disparities.

Transformation of Used Car Market, Prices, Repair Facilities and Auto Parts Retailers

The impending shift towards EVs is expected to transform the used vehicle market. As consumers gravitate towards more practical options, such as internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, the demand for replacement parts and automotive repair services will soar. This presents an opportunity for repair facilities and auto parts retailers to capitalize on the growing market.

Despite the push for electric vehicles, ICE vehicles are unlikely to disappear anytime soon. Law enforcement agencies lack the resources to enforce a ban on ICE vehicles, and attempts to restrict their registration would be met with resistance from consumers.

My Intentions

As for personal preferences, many individuals, myself included, have no intention of purchasing an EV. While hydrogen-powered vehicles hold promise, the lack of infrastructure remains a significant barrier. Looking ahead, self-sufficiency may be the only viable option, with individuals tasked with generating their own electricity and maintaining ICE vehicles for the foreseeable future.

As someone who cherishes rural living, I refuse to be driven out by impractical regulations that prioritize lofty ideals over practical realities. It’s time for sensible leadership that prioritizes freedom and empowers Americans to make choices that align with their lifestyles and values.
