Rethinking My Blog’s Focus

With the constant flood of news, I’ve taken some time to reflect on my blogging journey. My website once served as a platform for my political opinions. At the time, I thought sharing my perspective was important. However, I’ve come to realize that, in the grand scheme of things, my opinions don’t really matter to most people.
This realization has led me to reconsider the direction of my blog. Politics dominates the media, and with the 2024 election behind us, the divide in our country has only deepened. News outlets have firmly chosen their sides, reinforcing the political echo chambers. Regardless of what I wrote, it didn’t seem to make a difference.
Misinformation and bias run rampant, making it difficult to trust mainstream media. Watching legacy news and podcasts reveals the extent of the spin. That’s why I prefer tuning in to live presidential news conferences—where I can hear directly from the source, unfiltered. I encourage others to do the same. Listen to what the president says, then compare it to how the media presents it. You’ll notice the discrepancies.
For a long time, my blog was centered around politics. I wanted to share my take on current events, but in reality, few people cared about my perspective.
In today’s climate, lawsuits are everywhere. Free speech is a fundamental right, but it seems to come with consequences. Say the wrong thing, offend the wrong person, and if they have money, they can drag you into court. At one point, I might not have cared, but as I grow older, I have more than just myself to consider.
Moving forward, I will shift my focus to topics that may actually help people. I’ve learned a lot of things the hard way, and if my experiences can benefit someone searching the web, then that’s worth sharing. My family will remain off the public site—there’s a private, password-protected section for them, safeguarded from indexing and online theft.
I truly appreciate everyone who has read my blog, left comments, or reached out via email. Those interactions helped me gauge whether I was in touch with the world around me. But with the overwhelming flood of news and opinions saturating the internet, my small web space has become irrelevant. Most people now express their views on social media, and that’s where the conversation happens.
So, as I move in a new direction, I hope my blog can still serve a purpose—even if it’s just to share practical knowledge and personal insights.
